There aren’t all that many models whose careers we follow at Fashionising.com; few models have a career indicative of where fashion as an industry or as an self expression is heading. Androgynous model Andrej Pejic is different however. Bucking not just the commonly held perceptions of sex and gender he walks a fine line between the masculine and the feminine. A fine line that often comes across as less of an exploration of sexuality and more about the long lost ‘beauty’ of the male gender.

And beauty is the order of the day in Andre’s work for The Block’s spring / summer 2011 issue.

While the photo shoot explores many a gender specific piece from the trend laden fashion houses that dominate, there’s little to the shoot that is obviously sexualised. Andrej conforms to conceptions of beauty in it to be certain, but without any of the overt exploration of erotica or sex that androgynous models tend to attract.

He was 5 when his teacher wrote on his report card “Daniel can’t sit still.” Taking it as a compliment, he’s been on the go ever since. Having flown over 590,000 kilometres in a single year (2012), he’s done much to push the boundaries of a fashioniser, always looking to fold one extra Tom Ford suit into his set of Samsonite cases and for one extra occasion to tie a tie for. As much an editor-at-large as he is Fashionising.com’s Editor in Chief, when he's not travelling to all the fashion weeks his passports will allow him to, Daniel works on guiding this publication’s editorial and trend views. He is one of Fashionising.com’s co-founders.
