A battle at the forefront of glamorous fashion

One of the many facets of fashion is about creating a juxtaposition between the different elements of life and styling. This shoot, by photographer Stefan Dani, achieves exactly this integral component of fashion. By bringing together the two (seemingly) opposing styles of military magnetism and gorgeous glamour, fashion is given even further acceleration in terms of one’s ability to style and create looks to suit one’s own personal vision.

Fashion editor, Ana Nechita Amelian, brings together elements of long slender torsos and broad shoulders, bulky boots and sheer materials, chunky and aggressive accessories contrasting soft porcelain skin. All of these layers sit upon one another to give us that classic distinction between masculine (the militant) and feminine (the glamorous).  All done to create a new vision and style of glamour, for the everyday person to draw from and play with.

Note the effective use of green and brown, not conforming to the conventional muted greens that come with military type attire, but giving a twist to the look with the use of emerald green accompanied by glittering material. Make-up, by Alexandra Craescu, is dark and strong, although it perfectly accentuates all the right features of a woman – luscious lips and piercing eyes. Amelian makes use of the wearable style of layers; coats covering long flowing dresses, wrapped together by a belt and paired with gallant boots. This sense of styling is not only achievable by anyone but it is also one of the most effective ways to add interest to a personal look. There are also subtle elements in the juxtaposed styling by adding military swatches to a dress, mixing camouflage print with metallic jeans, or giving a look edge with a sharp piece of jewelry.

Military glamour – the very concept that lies at it’s core is one of creation: creating your own sense of style through the inspiration and thoughts of other times, it allows you to see the variation one can accomplish when it comes to fashion, and extend not only your own personal style but eliminate any limitations you may have when it comes to creating a look.

Born into the humble town of Franschhoek, South Africa it was little wonder that Chevaun Roux would find her flavour in life through good food, good wine and stylish apparel. After completing a Bacherlors Degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics the world of freelance writing became the first choice in occupation, with no regrets and having never looked back. With a zest for anything with colour, vibrance and essence she found herself diving further into the world of fashion and design; from thifting vintage wedding dresses to pouring through new and modern jewelry pieces. This self anointed bohemian indentity believes in all the partisan revolutionary ideals of love, beauty and freedom, and when she isn’t writing or editing you can find her at the kitchens helm creating her latest milkshake masterpiece.
