At first sight you feel as though you have stumbled upon some elegant affair, a classic women clad in black and white, with curls of hair hallowing a picturesque and pure face of honest eyes and silken skin. But then the vision begins to reveal more, your window becomes more insightful. You realise that everything is not as it seems, and rather than an elegant affair you are being drawn into a vixens lair; one of dark intent and seduction, the rising of a gothic seductress.
Photographer, Kendra Storm Rae, creates a shoot filled with the conceptions of sexuality, texture and temperament. Fueled with the fire of the dark and lovely she (along with stylist Rosi Muller) transforms model Frida into the temple of beauty and desire. Texture reins throughout the shoot through the variation of material and key pieces of jewelry (and headwear) to create focus and feature. There is an emphasis on skin and how the apparel sits upon Frida’s skin. Rae focuses on the sensuous areas of a woman; the curve of a breast or the arch of a thigh, but never goes further than the initial reveal, living the onlooker tempted to see more, and transfixed on the site before them.
Glamourous gothic tendencies are bought forth in make-up (done by Manuela Holzl) with striking black eyes and daring black lips, as will as hints of skull and embroidery detail in the jewelry and clothing design.
