By letting her imagination run wild and by refusing to be impelled purely by a sequence of typical fashion trends, Australian designer Camilla Franks chose to channel her personal journey as she reconnected with Mother Nature, as main inspiration for her spring 2013 collection. Named after the Pachamama goddess, worshiped by the indigenous tribes of the Andes, the line-up overflows with worldly cultural influences.
Photographed by Justin Ridler in the perfect setting offered by Sydney’s royal botanic gardens, Camilla’s spring and summer look book explodes in vibrant hues and colorful digital prints, all evocative of South America’s vivid wildlife and picturesque skies. Cut in delicate cottons, silk and leather, the unconstrained silhouettes celebrate Camilla’s psychedelic aesthetic that seems to grow only more intense.
With a collection envisioned as to indulge all the senses, Camilla reintroduces the kaftan as an essential summer piece, redirecting the focus towards detailed embroidery and exquisite embellishments, carefully placed on intricate garments modeled by the gorgeous Holly Rose Emery.
