Photographer Peter Coulson makes light and shadow work so hard for him, and in so many different ways, that you start to wonder if he pays them overtime. A simple black and white portrait of a model is rarely simple with Coulson: like this shoot of Anne Duffy that feels more like an artful experiment in making shadow and light battle it out. Sometimes light dominates and sometimes shadow; but what’s ultimately proven is that neither can exist without the other.
