The animal within: weekend watch

Let’s not forget that the word animal is both a noun and an adjective. It can describe a living creature, sure, but it can also describe an impulse, a brutishness, a carnal instinct that exists in humanity when you strip away society’s bounds.

Txema Yeste’s interpretation of the ‘animal’ theme feels like an exploration of the latter. Brilliantly set to the MS MR track Hurricane (so much so that it could serve as a film clip for the song), Yeste’s video couples a physical reflection of the ‘animal’ theme – from cat eye makeup to talon-like nails – with footage of Catherine McNeil, Constance Jablonski, Ginta Lapina, Liu Wen and Toni Garrn doing little else but bringing out their animalistic sides.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
