Fashion is built up of many ingredients; style, trends, uniqueness… so when embarking on the journey of a new season some trends and styles carry over. Others get put into a blender and get splattered onto the runway as a fresh interpretation of modern dressing.
The Aquascutum autumn 2012 show looks clean, long and lean on the surface; but have you looked closer?
There’s barely a skinny pant in sight. Instead we have trousers in velvet, light-weight tweed and leather, and all with a wider bottomed leg – for arguments sake let’s call it a slim flare. The collection has now introduced an alternative to the comfort zone we have all be sporting, and it works. Teamed with a long over coat and some fur, Aquascutum are certainly on to something and it’s part of a wider trend that sees the men’s relaxed tailoring trend slowly being interpreted into womenswear.
The colours at Aquascutum‘s autumn / winter 2012 show were muted statements on a day that most designers offered up London fashion week patterns that were rather loud. Aquascutum have created a winter colour palette of strong navy, military khaki, pale dove grey and dark chocolate brown for a season that warrants it. Elsewhere a pencil skirt with a middle-side slit, a key blazer to seal the deal and some tweed for good measure.
