Be in no doubt: I have not the faintest idea what the ‘Bang Bang’ in the fashion pictorial’s title represents. My first thought was that this would be a pictorial that would encompass much of the 60s Bond girl’s fashion. Wrong. If not that then, perhaps it would be a pictorial that built a narrative around Cher’s 1966 hit Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down). Not that either. What it is, however, is a fashion pictorial that successfully nails the emerging 1960s fashion trend. A trend with mod overtones and one that emerges in fall 2011 and continues into spring 2012.
With pieces from the likes of Burberry Prorsum and Marni, 60’s Bang Bang interprets the overt 1960s influences pieces of the coming season alongside those of a more open-ended palette. What is clear, however, is that the 60s is one of two decades to consider as has having the potential to replace the 70s fashion trend over the coming seasons. The other is the 1920s fashion revival.
