It has been a year filled with hundreds of stunning magazine covers, amongst which some consolidated careers, others became legendary and a few remained nothing but beautiful one-month wonders. What truly separates the best covers from all the rest is really hard to pinpoint, but the magazines to have made the 2013 top 10 are the perfect mix of inspiration, beauty and fashion, with a hint of star quality.

Some star 2013’s best models, some feature other favourites. From Aline Weber’s exotic Elle Brasil cover, to Daphne Groeneveld’s minimalist Numero Russia one, see who made it to our list, after the break.

Kati Nescher for German Vogue, photographed by Luigi and Daniele + Iango.
Kati’s gorgeous cheekbones and delicate mouth are the highlight of this wind-blown cover. Pastel fonts and a vintage-style corset dress complete Vogue Germany’s memorable May 2013 cover.

Aline Weber for Elle Brazil February 2013, photographed by Bob Wolfenson.
Exotic as veiled in Emilio Pucci’s delicate take on futuristic prints, Aline Weber‘s cover for Elle Brazil was nothing short of fabulous. Rocking a messy bob and green eyeshadow, the blonde supermodel looked fearlessly beautiful for Elle.

Carey Mulligan for UK Harper’s Bazaar June 2013, photographed by Tom Allen.
Nothing like a sea of cherry blossoms to complement Carey Mulligan‘s delicate features and flower-studded Prada ensembles. Reminiscent of an eternal spring, the Harper’s Bazaar cover celebrates the effortless-kind of beauty we all adore.

Edita Vilkeviciute for Lui, issue 3.
Winning over for its brazen use of nudity (see the uncensored version here), its simplicity and its summer mood, Lui’s cover of Edita Vilkeviciute was one that stuck in mind.

Daphne Groeneveld for Numero Russia April 2013, photographed by Sebastian Kim.
Minimalism done right. Black and white, uncomplicated, featuring a striking Daphne Groeneveld sporting a dramatic Tom Ford black gown, the Numero Russia cover for April is easily one of 2013’s best.

Andreea Diaconu for Vogue Paris June / July 2013, photographed by Mario Sorrenti.
She is now one of the top 10 models of 2013, but it’s covers much like the sensual one promoted by Vogue Paris for June / July 2013 to have introduced the real potential of Andreea Diaconu. Rolled in sand and bare skinned, she makes flawless look easy.

Edita Vilkeviciute for Vogue Paris October 2013, photographed by Mario Testino.
Visually, Edita Vilkeviciute‘s cover for Vogue Paris October 2013 is perhaps one of the most arresting ones to date. Nothing like the clear blue skies and the lavishness of the French Riviera in the backdrop to accent Edita’s stunning beauty.

Sasha Luss for Vogue Russia December 2013, photographed by Mariano Vivanco.
All it took was a change in hair colour for Sasha Luss to became practically unstoppable during 2013. The regal styling and her signature  ice-princess beauty made for one memorable Vogue cover.

Kate Moss for for Love Magazine’s 9th issue, photographed by Mert & Marcus.
It’s only safe to assume that a Kate Moss cover has the best chances to seduce and conquer, regardless of time, fashion and attitude. This year it was a gorgeous Kate Moss dipping in a bath of green water as photographed for Love Magazine to make it to the top.

Cara Delevingne for Interview Magazine April 2013, photographed by Peter Lindbergh.
It shouldn’t come as a total surprise that the best model of 2013 also signed up for the best magazine cover of the year. A topless Cara Delevingne in a full showcase of black and white sensuality, helped Interview magazine reach the highest place.
