Charlotte Casiraghi Vogue Paris cover signals a price rise

If the past months have proved anything, it’s that fashion and monarchy are more than willing to go hand in hand. And with the increased fashion media focus on Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, it was only a matter of time before the fashion media broadened its focus and put the spotlight on other young, beautiful, monarchical icons.

Enter this year’s September issue of Vogue Paris, an issue whose covered is graced by Charlotte Casiraghi, fourth in line to the throne of Monaco and granddaughter of Grace Kelly, Princess consort of Monaco.

The focus of the cover and of the magazine’s inner pages, the feature on Charlotte Casiraghi spans 23 pages of the September 2011 edition of Vogue Paris. Most of those pages come in the guise of a pictorial, with the photo shoot lensed by Mario Testino (quite the coup for Testino given he’s also responsible for the ‘Kate Moss wedding photo album‘ is US Vogue’s September issue).

While Charlotte’s feature certainly doesn’t sway the debate about the changes at Vogue Paris, one other element certainly does: the cover price. Look carefully about the barcode and you’ll see the September 2011 issue of Vogue Paris has a sell price of €12,90 – the June / July issue sold for only €4,90. Such a price rise begs the question: is Vogue Paris offering new things in September 2011, or is this future cost of fashion magazines?
