Couture when surrounded by the ornateness of a grand old setting can be heart-stoppingly beautiful. Couture when out of its element can sometimes be even better. Against paint-chipped walls and bare floors, model Chrystal Copland is all the more fair and beautiful, the dilapidated surrounds both a contrast to her beauty and a reminder that nothing is forever.
Aptly titled Dark Couture, this editorial by Benjamin Kanarek is both moody and beautiful. Styled by Sohei Yoshida it features couture gowns from a floral appliquéd Giambattista Valli to delicate lace Armani Prive, to daringly cut Atelier Versace, with plenty more in between.
