Though leaning towards to the highlights and origins of oriental inspiration, this fashion shoot by creative director Karolina Karolinka and photographer Henryk Lobaczewski is not only representative of one culture or body of tradition meeting another. Rather it represents the harmonious way in which these two traditions can not only meet in coordination, but actually compliment and bounce off of one another.
Classically western apparel meets an essence and indulgence of eastern flare – from clean cut and neatly defined hair (artfully sculpted by Lauren McCowan) to makeup with a cats eye accentuation (beautifully done by Amelia Axton). Even the oriental print on certain clothing items reflects somewhat of an eastern influence.
Karolinka chooses to display this stark contrast of independent ideologies rather fiercely in an attempt to show how well the two can co-exist in both a real and fashionable impression. They are creating a fun and vibrant picture of East meets West, rather than a watered down representation of coexistence of two separate national identities. This playful and animated perspective of different inspirations and the representation of different traditions is the perfect way in which to lightly introduce the magic and possibility of harmonious fashion creations.
