Suggestively entitled “Iconic Horror Films”, Emerson’s spring 2013 collection, as envisioned by designer Jackie Fraser-Swan, gets its original inspiration from a selection of iconic 1970s and modern-day horror movies. The unusual dark theme that serves as a departure point for the exquisite collection, gently infused itself in the Emerson spring/summer 2013 campaign as well.
Fusing Fraser-Swan’s signature aesthetic with a series of haunting motifs, the campaign plays upon the idea of strange beauty, colliding with an oddly charged atmosphere, perfectly set against a deserted backdrop. Every little detail in Paul Maffi’s photography hints towards a fashionable interpretation of the iconic movies, complementing the 70s flare with an utterly modern twist.

The contrasting elements mixing rock with romance made for an edgy campaign, where sleeveless peplum tops, classic button-down blouses, a new take on the varsity jacket, and Swan’s staple sleeveless angle drape dress, were stunningly emphasized by a series of both black and white and colorful pictures, styled by Masha Orlov. Sophie Hughes’ intricate jewelry pieces added a luxurious finishing touch to a fabulous spring campaign.
