Emily Ratajkowski’s boxing shoot makes sweating sexy

It’s a shoot concept not unlike those that have gone before: girl in boxing ring, skin bared and glistening under fluorescent strip lighting, beauty amplified by the contrastingly gritty surrounds. A concept need not be new, though, when it’s done exceptionally well. And with Emily Ratajkowski in the ring, and Olivia Malone behind the lens, you couldn’t ask for more.

Ratajkowski plays a character every girl at some point dreams of being, and every guy of having: fierce, independent, yet impossibly proportioned and perfectly feminine. Through smokey eyes and sticky strands of wet hair she hits the camera with uncompromising stares and the promise that she’ll never back down.

Mixing sporty fashion with pure sport in mesh tanks, crop tops, silk shorts and wedged sneakers, stylist Marissa Joye Peden creates not just outfits but the wardrobe of a singular character. Accessories like gold hoop earrings, a man’s oversized watch, and rosary beads echo the hip-hop beat that courses through this tough girl’s veins.

With hairstyling by Bobby Eliot and makeup by Caroline Ramos, you can see Olivia Malone’s (oliviamalone.com) beautifully photographed shoot of Emily Ratajkowski by visiting the gallery.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
