When asked to describe that place between fantasy and reality people tend to search for one word, that perfect one able to comprehend what is almost impossible to fully describe using sentences. But when words fail and silence tends to block the illusion, leave it to the most poetic visual expression to tag along and offer a glimpse of what lies beyond imagination. Ethereality, as captured by photographer Billy Rood, feels like an open door leading towards a universe where reality and fantasy clash together.
The results, extraordinary, light and peaceful carry Rood’s signature sophistication, having models Nikayla and Alyssa emphasize the concept that serves as foundation for this particular type of modern, clean yet dramatic imagery. Unpredictable, with just a touch of digital flavour, the sequence of photographs strike through a strong visual pattern, so apart from all the rest that feels almost surreal.
Hair stylist Carol Wood and make-up artist Nika Vaughan, in collaboration with Ford Artists stylist Favia helped paint the perfect black and white look, eager to unveil how the future may appear like, while leaving us wanting to know more.
