Four stars, no standout: Prada’s leading men

Remember when Miuccia Prada put a leading male actor or five on her runway for the Prada fall 2012 menswear show? Well for anyone who missed it Gary Oldman, Jamie Bell, Garrett Hedlund and Willem Dafoe have now been immortalised as poster boys of the collection’s campaign, too.

There’s a very stately drama to the campaign, as far as one initial shot shows, as if it were military portraiture rather than fashion. But the problem with having four actors of such calibre in the one frame is that none is the focus of the attention. It’s a little like having four Generals with no men to lead. Perhaps further campaign imagery will play things differently.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
