Outfit dissection: Leigh Lezark

This is a simple look to break down because it went straight from the runway to the street without any translation in between. Shown on Kenzo’s fall 2012 runway, the outfit hints subtly at the jungle themes of the collection (you can see in the close-up after the break that the top is flecked with green and brown) but the overall effect of black and white goes perfectly with Leigh Lezark’s dark hair and alternative aesthetic.

While Lezark wore the outfit during the spring Paris fashion week season, it’s the kind of outfit that’s perfect for the autumn chill – just add tights and boots underneath and a coat on top.

The exact look is easy enough to achieve from Kenzo’s fall 2012 pieces, but you could also take inspiration from the silhouette: the waist-cinched skirt marries beautifully with a fitted stretch jersey top. Just be wary of opting for skirts with gathered elasticised waists as they won’t keep the silhouette so smoothly.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
