Gucci’s fall collection after dark

“Velvet, feathers and leather drift together amongst elegant silks and hothouse flower prints in a tale of total decadence.” Quite perfectly summed up in that one sentence is Atif AbuSamra’s shoot After Dark; perhaps it even sums up the entirety of Gucci’s gothically romantic fall collection, of which the editorial is centered upon. Fashion editor Natascha Hawke and hair & makeup artist Katie Cousins reimagine the pieces with perhaps a little more enigmatic, vintage-inspired softness than they were presented with on the runway.

The mysterious protagonist – played by Milica Radmilovic – is strong but not hard, beautiful yet not quite delicate. Whether in the collection’s rich green velvet gown or its billowy black blouses and riding boots, the one thing AbuSamra’s images never fail to do is captivate with their dark and luxurious allure.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
