If we’re to restrain a beautiful creature, seems we might as well restrain them in a beautiful way. Horses throughout history have had their feet iron clad and their rippling chests harnessed in polished leather. We turn our efforts of taming an animal into a visually pleasing one, regardless of whether we’re slave-driver, master, or friend, with our craftsmanship. One supposes our fascination with leather harnesses as a human accessory is much the same: a girl can be a beautiful creature, tamed and restrained in a beautiful way.
While this shoot by Boris Ovini stunningly juxtaposes beauty of the human and equine variety side by side, it also confronts a little with it’s use of constraint and use of leather. Featuring in the second issue of Exhibition, it’s none the less well worth viewing and interpreting for yourself.
The shoot stars Valerija Kelava & Chloe Memisevic. You can view it in full at the gallery above.
