If you couldn’t tell from the behind the scenes photos of Karlie Kloss we posted earlier, Americana Manhasset have a finger on the pulse. Their model cast is of-the-moment, their themes are of-the-moment… Last season it was all adorable retro-kitsch to align neatly with the fashion world’s 1950s obsession. This time they’ve tapped into the 1920s.
Gatsby may be the word on film-goer lips in anticipation of Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming take, but let’s not forget that The Artist swept the Oscars with 5 awards – the first silent film to hold that claim in decades. And so, Americana Manhasset’s cinematic fall 2012 catalogue channels not the opulent decay of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s world, but the untarnished glamour of the silent screen.
