Lanvin campaign opts for reality

As the fall season is about to set in soon, designer ad campaigns start rolling out. Forget sunkissed skin and plastic cheeckbones; Lanvin takes real people between the ages of 18 to 80 years old and features them in the fall / winter 2012 campaign.

“I was interested to bring these clothes back to the street somehow, and seeing how they look on different ages, different sizes,” Alber Elbaz told WWD. “It felt like a crazy family, and I like that.”

Photographed by Steven Meisel, the campaign “celebrates individuals with individuality. Reality… Not reality stars.” The 80-year-old lady with the mysterious look is more stunning than any model dressed in that long-sleeved peplum dress. In reality, this lady is Jacquie “Tajah” Murdock, who is frequently featured on Ari Seth Cohen’s blog, Advanced Style, and her dream finally came true when she modeled for Lanvin’s campaign.
