Eclectic and cultural are two words that best describe this shoot by Sally Ann & Emily May Gunawan for Garuda Indonesia. Being for the airline’s in-flight magazine, it’s only proper that the shoot was done in an area of classic Indonesian architecture, inspiring awe and wonder as one glances at the photos.
Making a shoot like this to work is quite difficult, between the eclectic styling and the gorgeous setting, one must find the balance in order to properly showcase these two elements. Sally and Emily did this very well, ensuring that you appreciate not just the clothes but the whole picture as well. Stylist Andhika Dharmapermana also put together ensembles that were colorful and unique, with florals, stripes and traditional prints clashing together – that stood out among the stone walls of the background.
Hair and make up artists Arkhy Pradipta and Indah Dwi Aryati created a look that was also a mix of modern and traditional much like the clothes.
This shoot piques interest in travelling. It shows that amidst modern times, we can still take a step back and appreciate the history and cultures of different countries all over the world.
