Supermodel, superhero, superfreak: Linda Evangelista

Superhero films have been dominating the box office and as such dominating our thoughts. And because fighting off enemies whilst also looking awesome necessitates a skin-tight costume (superheros are the stuff of fantasy, after all) it’s a fine line between superhero and superfreak. Not just those of the X-Men kind, but the Rick James kind. The kind you don’t take home to mother.

With a wardrobe consisting largely of latex, Steven Klein’s shoot Super Linda for W Magazine plays along that line. The clever styling by Edward Enninfu works in fall 2012 trend pieces as well as those intended for fetishist purposes. But if looking at the shoot makes you think that rubber catsuits and latex capes are in prolific high-fashion supply, it’s not quite the case: most of the fetish pieces are by David Samuel Menkes or Atsuko Kudo, specialists in the area. But again, Enninfu’s styling works them in so well you wouldn’t know the difference.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
