Posed against the 1464AD Neemrana Fort-Palace in Jaipur, India, model Nicole Pollard could be some figure of Royalty, if not of pure myth. Especially in Ms Couture’s lingerie pieces, or white bustier dress whose bejewelled belt flows out into a waterfall of diaphonous white. In fact, each of the outfits in this shoot for The Strand Arcade in Sydney is delicately beautiful.
The Strand’s theme of the season is ‘The Art of Authenticity’, and it celebrates not luxury itself but the craftsmanship that goes into making something truly luxurious. For that they’ve also partnered with Artisans of Fashion, “an initiative that aims to build long term and sustainable growth opportunities for the next generation of textile artisans in India”, backed by the likes of Alex Perry, Akira, Ms Couture and Manning Cartell. So don’t be surprised to see pieces from those designers working their way into the campaign – and yes, they’re the kind of pieces that are impressively crafted, the kind that makes these names some of the most well known in Australian fashion.
The final shots from The Strand’s spring / summer 2012/2013 campaign will be released at a shopping event on 15th August, along with an official launch of the Artisans of Fashion initiative (head to strandarcade.com.au if you want to stay in the loop about details of the launch event). For now here are some behind-the-scenes shots of the campaign being put together – photographed by Robyn Beeche – which preview the oufits and exotic locale.
