If we have the ability to isolate our worlds to serve different function we do this within our daily experiences – we can have the different realms in which we play, work, eat, sleep and do all the other realistic occupations that are required of us. If we have the ability to make this realistic divide then we most definitely have the ability to do this going into the world of make-believe.
This photoshoot by Joel Cartier is the perfect example of a realm that takes you beyond this daily realistic world and into the world of fantasy fashion. It allows you to be part of a different domain, one where your mind can move in any direction, your thoughts are allowed to travel and flow around those things fantastical, creating a new reality, a new “real-world”… if only for an instant.
Cartier, assisted by the styling abilities of Kathrin Tollas, creates a fashion shoot that is rife with colour, distinction and interpretation. Lines are bold and severe- blunt hairlines or jagged-edged jewelery drawing your eye’s line in. The colours of red, black, silver and an ice blue dominate the hues revealed in this shoot, creating a steely and futuristic interpretation of the militant fashion present.
Thompson Johnson (first assistant) and Klemens Trenkle (second assistant) aid Cartier and Tollas in setting the scene for your mind to wonder, allowing you to break away from your own realistic domain and into something on the austere side of the imagination.
