Marc Jacobs’ girls of glamour

It was ’70s sophistication to the max – or should I say to the maxi – when Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2011 collection hit the runway in a flurry of dresses that swept the floor with a Studio 54-like glamour. Some gowns were made all the more of a statement by way of thigh high slits. Peasant-style blouses and dresses in opulent fabrics were far from the fields, while hot pants and wide-leg pants were the other key options for below.

If you go for the Jacobs look come Spring, a party-girl accessory is mandatory – be it an oversized hat or an oversized flower – and for a handbag, nothing beats a easy-to-party-with clutch.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
