March of the model castings in Milan: weekend watch

If we’re defined by our official purpose, then we might call Alberto Belli – as he was on his this trip to Milan – a model. But he turned the trip into something else. Bored waiting in line at castings he took to doing something creative: filmmaking, his true calling.

“I’m a filmmaker by heart but I had the opportunity to travel to Milan for Fashion Week S/S 2013 as a model,” notes Belli in his video description. Impressively the film was shot on his iPad, a whirlwind of footage snipped together to give an impression of what the hot days of castings were like.

Titled The March of the Castings and cleverly set to Elgar’s famous Pomp and Circumstance march, it’s a perfectly-timed watch to get us in the spirit for the big four fashion weeks, which kick off with New York in a matter of days.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
