Calling them summer whites is something of a misnomer. Certainly white is an easier colour to wear through the warmer months, and as the mercury pushes further up the thermometer it’s also a colour that makes a lot of sense, but the idea that white clothes are solely the domain of summer is to limit its potential.

Take the following look as an example;

men's summer whites

Despite having been snapped during the recent spring 2012 showings at Pitti Unomo, there’s nothing that needs to pigeonhole this look to the warmer months. Nor a warmer climate. The white pants (note the growing preference towards pleats), crisp blue blazer, the turned back cuffs and the statement watch all come together for a sharp look. A sharp look that’s transseasonal across much of Western Europe.

If whites aren’t suited to anything it’s when it rains. Having walked through a down poor in a white Tom Ford, pin-cord suit, I can attest to that fact first hand.

This look was snapped by Citizen Couture.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
