Sometimes inspiration can strike from the most unexpected places and create the most astonishing results. Case in point: photographer Andrew Akimov, who allowed for his work to be directly influenced by the desolated feel of the muddy waters, creating an artistic photo shoot by carefully playing upon contrast and imperfections. Akimov searched for the ugly beauty in the Russian landscape, steering away from ideality and the breathtaking scenery. And the echo of his choice could not have been more powerful.
Anastasia Abrosimova’s dramatic image resembles the flawless portrait of a water creature, pulled out from the muddy depths and abandoned at shore. The visually astonishing concept had much to do with finding the perfect balance between prettiness and plainness, having little details take the lead.

Elnura Badalova styled the mesmerizing photo shoot, by borrowing key elements from the influential water theme and its utterly mysterious character. Anastasia Bogomyakova was in charge of complementing the ethereal image through a remarkable make-up that ended up being equally bold and fantastical.
