I’ve always thought of the pink colour spectrum – particularly the part that includes hot pink and fuchsia – as a bit of a danger zone for blondes. There’s a strong chance that donning a bright pink anything will turn you from respectable blonde into living Malibu Barbie, or so I’ve often thought. But to test my theory and help me overcome my aversion to the most feminine part of the colour palette, I picked up this berry pink silk jacket from Australian label Cylk and challenged myself to wear it without my usual reservations.

The jacket is beautifully made from soft yet sturdy silk (I’ve managed not to ruin it yet) with a draped front that makes it perfect for layering. When this shot was taken in Barcelona, I was wearing it with a tailored short-suit from Zara and my all-time favourite Gucci Devendra boots. Barbie crisis averted (I think), I’m starting to feel that pink is not so out-of-bounds after all.
