To understand fashion is to understand a form of expression. Whether you are the simplest fashion wearer or the most complex there is always thought and intention that goes into what that fashion is going to express.
Photographer Khoa Bui takes all the notions of fashionable intent and culminates them into one cohesive portrait of display of its own form and with its own expression. There is an unquestionable whimsical quality to this photoshoot; every applied technique and aspect creates a fairytale story. Given these creative visual promptings we are able to allow our minds to tell their own imaginative story. Bui makes brilliant use of colour, lighting and movement: red, white and blue contrasting heavily with one another to create a wintery fantasy, light etching through fluttering leaves and bouncing off striking apparel.
Continuing with the notions of this modern fairytale the fashion follows suit with materials of white lace, silk, satin and cotton. Giving the model, Taylor Godfrey, a bridal glow and ethereal radiance. But a fairytale does not go without its modern expansions; the shaggy bangs of white-gold or blue locks, by Melissa Dezarate, sit atop the eyes with accentuated felinity, but with a hint towards anime design; creating an almost unreal character for our minds to conceive. As well as the impactful blue eye shadow and pale lips permutation. This mermaidian inspired make-up, done by Grace Phillips, creates a smokey and seductive effect that ties in with the softness of the images as a whole.
