Black and white is the new colour. No, really. For a long time now desaturation has been the enemy of fashion, with black in particular being equated to unphotographable and boring. But tides always turn and the shades at either end of the spectrum are waging war against the brights in between.

Black needs white though, and white black. It’s about balancing the two, creating contrasts, keeping it interesting with black and white patterns and prints. That’s something Koray Parlak’s latest shoot for ELELE Magazine demonstrates perfectly, as styled by Cristina Cosentino.

What’s interesting to also note is how well a warm beauty look (in this case applied by makeup artist Melis Ilkkilic) can work against black and white clothing. A graphic, mod style of makeup isn’t necessarily required.

With great hairstyling by Nuri Sekerci (check out the diagonal partings) and featuring model Ilona Swagemakers, you can view the full shoot by Koray Parlak (korayparlak.com) by clicking on the gallery.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
