Swimwear, shadows & horses: Andres Sarda’s gorgeous campaign

Swimwear campaigns usually inflect to the side of bright, straightforward, and cheerful. They’re photos of girls, toned and tanned, smiling or looking sensual, bikinis always perfectly captured in bright sunlight so you can see their every detail. They’re what’s on display, after all.

Txema Yeste created something a little different for the latest Andres Sarda campaign. In Yeste’s shots, Denisa Dvorakova is masked in billows of sheer fabric or flecks of glowing crimson light; a molten gold swimsuit blurs into skin and sand in the shadow of Dvorakova’s equine companion. And Yeste plays with light in other ways, too: a cross-hatching of shadows mimics a gingham check bikini while black and white stripes merge with black and white ripples of water.

Not all of the spring 2014 campaign shots are mood-based but the ones that are become the most effective. Sarda’s swimwear collection for has plenty on offer, but it’s sun, sand, shadows and horses we long for.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
