There’s something about a soft shade of lilac that screams, rather than hints at, Spring. It’s manicured English gardens in full bloom, an arbor covered in rambling wisteria; it’s a ’50s chiffon gown; iced teacakes and confetti. Paired with a palette of crisp white, nude and the odd injection of chambray blue Thakoon‘s offering for Spring 2011 perfectly conveys that sense of the season. But rather than being as polished and wholesome as my own fanciful projections of what the colour palette should be, Thakoon’s fabrics and cuts add an effortless edge – particularly where sheer and flowing. And that’s no bad thing at all.
