There is always something to learn and take away from someone else’s understanding of fashion… perhaps ‘understanding’ is even too profound a word: ‘discernment’ rather. The way in which people choose to manipulate and discern fashion creates a general awareness of all the different facets and approaches one can take to fashion. Something that we learn of, and see more of, every time a new design team comes into effect, who are serious about the work they do and the quality looks that they produce.
Behind this shoot, photographer Yehezkiel Ryan Aldo and stylist Emiria Larasati had the notions of bringing together materials, fashions, feels that were not of the convention in normal every day wear. Most pervasively you notice the continuous contrast between the apparel’s material and the model’s accessories. The styling and photography is effortless, with strong natural lighting illuminating the model and these few key items of clothing. Ryan Aldo elucidates everything that is there, no hiding in shadows or loosing oneself in a world of darkness. Rather, this is the shoot of the new age Sun Goddess, with jewelry made of industrialized engine parts and furs made of natural fibers the shoot creates a continuous contrast between each element in the portraits: natural sky, industrialized buildings, natural light, man-made clothing.
This ebb and flow of the back and forth between natural and man-made is subtle but it is evident, framing the model and her fascinating apparel in a 21st centaury light as something beautiful, provoking and assiduous.
