The landing: weekend watch

A strange being lands on earth, rising up from the smoking crater of where a crashed ship must be. THE LANDING is a fashion film and shoot by Paco Matteo Li Calzi, with avant garde styling by Alexia Mingarelli used to reflect the fact that this girl is not of our world but another.

Paco’s choppy editing and jumpy cuts are the kind that hit you hard and you have to remind yourself to breathe. He knows how to use soundtrack to full effect: noise, more so than music, rises up into uneasy, percussive swells of sound. Between the editing and score, the viewer is disorientated just as the creature is on this strange earth.

The shoot similarly uses landscape and poses to unnerve and convey the story. Model Korlan Madi is an alien, a fish out of water, but a beautiful one at that.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
