Winter can be both magical and sad, breathtakingly beautiful and melancholic, uplifting and decadent. It holds the power to make the time stand still, but at the same time builds infinity bridges in between worlds. Photographer Marta Moosiatko Streng turned snow into a “suicidal marathon of positive thoughts”, seeking lost answers and pursuing the long road towards spring together with model Weronika Potocka.
It takes more than a pair of snow boots to brave the cold feeling winter brings along, but even in an ocean of frozen white, hope can still be encountered, at least that’s what we choose to believe. Exploring the unknown, stripped down to sheer lingerie pieces and bare feet, Weronika recalls the spring spirit. Sometimes a state of mind, others an imprinted sensation, winter makes for the most striking of metaphors.
Rather than representing the end of the road, Marta Moosiatko Streng’s photo shoot gives place to interpretation, as it is both about getting lost, as it is about being found again. “Snow in shoes, snow in life, snow in mind”.
