The run through: the part of the runway show that the public isn’t privy to, a practice run where models own off-duty outfits are thrown together with the towering heels they’re soon to stride out in for real.

Backstage at Roberto Cavalli’s Milan fashion week show, the first step of the runway was at beautifully dramatic as the last, courtesy of a puff of smoke that made the models seem to appear and disappear like shadows.
