Upside down and inside out: The New Romantics

Phenomenal is one way of describing Marijana Gligic‘s artistic work, otherworldly would be another, but they both fail in comprising the depth, the nature and the gist of this editorial. Transcending genders, challenging the norms and putting a fresh complexion on romance, the photo shoot is everything you expect it not to be, a metaphor of the best kind, an affair of the heart dressed in punk uniforms.

And if the studs, the black lips and the occasional skull motifs get you fantasizing about a Gothic-punk melange, the flower patterns and the dramatic make-up set on pale skin, heavy brows and splashes of color as envisioned by Irena Miletic, steer your mind towards an Oriental-flavoured fantasy destination. Naturally and without restraints, Bojana Tosic and Marko Martinovic epitomize the new romantics.

To complement the rebel spirit of the shoot, Jovana Velickovic created an array of bold and twisted hair styles, amongst them crimped updos, quiffs and modern takes on the ’50s pompadour. To view Marijana Gligic’s (www.marijanagligic.com) captivating editorial, click on the gallery above.

Shaped by all things beautiful and feminine, Nicoleta Parascan’s first steps towards entering the captivating world of fashion were taken somewhere around the young age of six, when she received her very own first fashion magazine. Discovering an entirely new universe, filled with pretty ladies and beautiful clothes, there was not much able to ever beat or compete with the fantasy land that was suddenly opening up. Surrounded by books, constantly thinking about the next best outfit, in search of a signature style and defined by a nostalgic calling towards the past, Nicoleta believes in taking chances, in destiny and in building her own path in life. When she’s not writing, you can easily find her playing with her cat, reading an old book, watching movies, exploring the city or blogging her own daily adventures.
