Just as words can be used to create metaphors, similes and personifications, so photographs can be used to recreate and replace one inanimate object with another animate object. Photographer Timmothy Lee uses his fashion and photographic understanding to create a female representation of a water lily.
Within the photography shoot Lee uses model Nikola Lines as a water lily. Submerging her as a beautiful female form and reemerging her personified as the delicate and iridescent flower, still emanating her own radiant beauty but also holding a new found beauty; one that captures the essence of a water lily, the delicacy of what it is and the colour that it holds.
The make-up (done by Joey Tang) is water-proof, and is applied to use the skin as a canvas – to glow and radiate its own colour. Lee and Tang make use of the make-up so as to show the essence of the water lily and the beauty that it holds within.
