There is a particular vivacity that is bought into an environment with the presence of flowers. Floral print, floral details, flowery colours, floral accessories – all of these things have come to dwell quite heavily in the world of fashion – and for sufficient reason; they are simply beautiful. Flowery design adds the brightness of life to the inanimate objects of clothing, as seen in this shoot by photographer Katriena Emmanuel, there are the continued notions of brightness, quirkiness, and the delicate wonder that comes along with the feminine presence.
Stylist, Sarah Birchley, plays with the continuous presence of femininity – soft whites and brightly coloured girlish accessories. This shoot manages to move you in the mind of a five-year old girl as she dreams up her fantasy wedding of colour, life and surrounding beauty. Playful hairstyles, by Aleesha Darke, and vibrant make-up in shades of yellow, pink and blue eyeshadow, by Gemma Elaine, are in line with this notion and use colour and zest to give the models their youthful, playful and dazzling appearance.
There is nothing gaudy or brash about what you are seeing, the clever use and blending of colour and material create a celebration of all that is soft, delicate and girly. The conventional use of floral has been taken to new and unique heights. The additions of polka dots, multi-coloured tassels, chunky sandals and lace-up shoes with socks all run with the child-like theme, and satisfy it perfectly to come together in one final mystical and magical world.
Models, Abbie Heath and Jessie Little, represent all things pretty: lost and lovely under the shadows of the trees and the sparkle of the sun.
