What if the ending was different, and Romeo and Juliet survived? What if these star-cross’d lovers didn’t take their life?
That’s what Wildfox asks for their fall 2012 campaign, but it’s not exactly the kind of alternate ending that looks far into the future. Instead, it imagines a continued honeymoon of young love, updated for the modern day and most definitely taking its cues from Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film.
In fact, it’s less about Shakespeare all together and more about revelling in the ’90s – an era that was a golden age for Wildfox’s designers Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon. Juliet may have been Romeo’s sun, but this collection has Leonardo DiCaprio posters on its wall.
If you’re not a fan of the film or of the ’90s, it’s still hard not to get swept up in the youthful excitement Wildfox captures with their fantasy of star-cross’d lovers that defy the odds.
