At a stuffy 32 degrees it didn't quite feel like Autumn/Winter weather. But that didn't stop the first main show of L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) from going off without a hitch last night.
The first of seven main parades to be held as part of the A/W 2008 retail festival, yesterday's show included designs from camilla & marc, Ginger & Smart, Jayson Brunsdon, Kirrily Jonhston, sass & bide, Leona Edmiston, and Marnie Skillings. Check out all of the runway photos in the Fashion Diary.

One can easily be forgiven for thinking that mass production results in greater choices for clothes. But take a closer look at those varied options and you'll see that they are practically all the same. For example the humble t-shirt; perhaps one of the most mass produced clothing items. Just in the last couple of years we have seen a myriad of fluorescents, vintage prints, Asian fonts, stripes, spots, logos, V-necks, crew necks, boat necks and more. Every season it's just another case of "same same, but different". Even that was done to death.

A tree-lined catwalk set the scene for Wednesday night's David Jones Autumn/Winter collections launch. Titled 'A Japanese Story', the parade showcased top Australian designers from Sass & Bide through to the likes of Collette Dinnigan and Akira.
Model and long-time face of David Jones Megan Gale bade an emotional yet gracious farewell to the David Jones runway - accepting a bunch of flowers while a flutter of "snow" rained down gently at the end of the runway.

I got the chance to hop along to one of the editorial shoots for the upcoming Mink Magazine organised by Sandi & shot by Wayne. It was one of the first cold days this summer and the shoot was under a bridge, unfortunately for me I made my way to the wrong bridge at first, eventually though I found the right one. The shoot features clothes by Anna Campbell & models Tessa-Jay & Tanjil.

La Perla sure didn't skimp in the use of this years sheer trend, which makes for some incredibly hot pieces. There's also a sprinking of yellow throughout the collections which really serves to brighten it up.
How's that gold croc skin, nice? Check out all the collections in the designers and collections forum, or to pick your favourites from this collection check the discussion link after the jump.

Last Sunday I was positively excited to be invited along to document the shoot for Joolz featuring very talented & lovely duo Georgia & Judith from Georgia Fields & The Freeways. Filling in for the boys in the shoot were Jo-el & Tristan, styling by Lynette, Adam was behind he lens & make-up by Jade & Natalia. Brett also popped by to help document & managed to snap a great shot of me which is by no means an easy feat.

I really liked the Blugirl, so I thought I might like the Blumarine collection aswell and I was right. It was awesome to see some splashes of colour amongst a sea of collections which seem to have been largly monotone. With cuts ranging from sexy to cute, again I'm a fan.

There's a whole lot more great stuff in this collection that's worth checking out but there wasn't enough space to squeeze it into the image above.

Even though Gianfranco Ferré has passed on, his design house still lives on and this is their first fall collection without him. The collection was put together by his design team after the departure of Lars Nillson's and the dropping of his fall designs.
