The stuff of dreams and pulp fiction

Karmen Pedaru, the sexiest I think I’ve ever seen her look, in a vibrant red wig and nothing but a pair of Prada’s hot rod heels. Mariacarla Boscono Bettie Page-like with black fringed hair and a leopard-print belted bodysuit. Just when we felt like we might nod off, Mert & Marcus brought us this bedtime reading that’s worthy of the cover of some vintage pulp …

Lara Stone beauty shoot with a difference

It’s so far from being the regular take on a beauty shoot that it’s barely a beauty shoot at all. It’s art, photography, illustration, collage, and it sets about doing something different. Not different to anything that’s ever been done before, but different to what has become expected. And Solve Sundsbo’s creation – starring Lara Stone is indeed a visual treat.

Kate Moss the Nun to W’s Bible

Update: You can now view the full shoot of Good Kate / Bad Kate after the break. Many things spring to mind when one thinks of Kate Moss, though up until now “Nun” was never one of these. Covering W Magazine’s Spring Fashion Bible [we see what you did there!], Moss makes a striking mother-superior-of-fashion.

This is fashion: Camille Rowe naked

Things change, things remain the same. Nudity, sex, fashion: somehow it’s a triangle that these days fails to stand up without all three sides. That’s true for magazines like Purple, a magazine that often has just as much skin as fashion but that has the latter word in its title – leaving no doubt of what it considers itself to be. Purple fashion. So what’s …

Calendar girls – for each and every day of the year

We’re into February and well beyond thinking about our 2012 calendar situations. But while it may be too late to make it into our calendar round-up, it’s never going to be too late to enjoy viewing this calendar from VMan’s 25th issue. Shot by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Carine Roitfeld, this one gets 12 of the biggest models and Victoria’s Secret angels into its …

In search of lost time

“Like souls, ready to remind us, waiting and hoping for their moment, amid the ruins of all the rest; and bear unfaltering, in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence, the vast structure of recollection.” — Marcel Proust Remi Rebillard knows how much I love a story, and luckily for me he’s always willing to tell one – no matter how deep or …

Fierce, fearless, fetishist

Not to go over the top with the alliteration, but those three words do spring to mind: Fierce. Fearless. Fetishist. Pierre Dal Corso wins us over yet again with his shoot for L’Edito Magazine in which a completely transformed, pink-haired Laura Blokhina pulls strong poses that match the visual impact of Ilona Glapa’s styling without hesitation.

Home in a far off land

In this shoot by Kelly Defina, the organic hues of Burberry Prorsum's pieces are the palette that shapes our vision of a travel wardrobe. Bronzed Australian beauty Laura Andric is our muse. Burberry's straw caps and wrap dresses are her wardrobe staples; the understated luxury in which she spends her holiday afternoons. For more ostentatious affairs she turns to Lanvin jewels and Etro's exotic prints, or a slice of home with local labels Nicholas and Ellery. By the midday sun she's just as glamorous in vintage swimwear pieces from the likes of Missoni and La Perla. With the right pieces in her suitcase, anywhere she travels becomes a home away from home.

Claustrophobic Fashion: behind the scenes

In a world where digital and physical are often combined into one blurred reality, where the craftsman or the artist is something entirely different to what he or she once was, you never quite know how something was put together. For the fashion world that means the use, or often the overuse, of photoshop; it means choice between shooting photos digitally or on film, or …

Drawing from a dream

How do you describe a dream? Dreams are fragmented, they have no logical sequence and no sense of time. But they can evoke something; they can leave a mood as a lasting impression that inspires you for the rest of the day. It was a dream that photographer Fenia Labropoulou had that inspired the concept of this shoot, titled, quite aptly, Dreamcatcher.
