I’m quite convinced that slipping on a pair of Raphael Young‘s Winter 2011 boots will give you super-powers… especially the intense over the knee pairs that have fierce names like ‘Viper’, ‘Sphere’ and ‘Jaws’. Young’s designs are functional art. There’s a deep sense of futurism, and an extraordinary level of detail and craftsmanship.
For Winter 2011, Young’s heels are faceted, structural… at times matt, at times crafted from glass with encapsulated bubbles of air or water. The materials have been carefully chosen – from French nappa to cashmere suede, sometimes Imperial satin silk.
