For fall / winter 2013 Phillip Lim proceeded with further exploring the biker theme, which we have already seen interpreted in bits and pieces of his pre-fall 2013 collection, so the step felt natural, impending even. This time around, the focus fell on girlfriends of bikers, the tough, confident women with lots of devil-may-care attitude. Needless to say, leather and patch-covered denim felt right in place, helping shape some more of the intriguing picture placing the powerful woman center stage come fall.
Lim’s vision was as always extraordinarily precise and on point, so it won’t be long until everyone will want to walk the streets wearing the motorcycle jacket carrying his signature, the sharp leather vests marking his strengths or one of its many fabulous coats. Slightly oversized, asymmetric or worn-out, the outerwear items looked beyond tempting, in fact they were the greatest attributes of an entirely brilliant line-up. And where everything else fails, Lim’s effortless-looking layers are enough reasons to keep the inspiration close and the mind opened.
