You know you’re at an Alannah Hill parade when all of a sudden you’re eyes are bombarded with a maximalist assault of prints, textures, accessories and embellishments. There’s nothing subtle about Hill and, given her ongoing survival in a fickle fashion world, it would seem that’s just the way her fans like it.
If you’re not the die-hard Alannah Hill girl, however, your best bet is to separate out pieces from the all-at-once styling. And the key pieces to single out from her LMFF (Melbourne fashion festival) show? Look to Rachel Rutt in a silver and navy skirt with white knee high socks; and some of the more refined bow-adorned pieces that can be pared back from super-sweet to female dandy.
