While we’re personally recommending that fashionisers leave the military fashion trend behind, there’s still a large part of the fashion industry including the former trend amongst their autumn 2011 offerings. Camilla & Marc is one such label with their autumn / winter 2011 presentation at the Melbourne fashion festival (LMFF) including both military and aviator elements. Frankly, of the two only the aviator should have worked. Yet, styled as it was with country appeal, the military elements didn’t fail.
Take the following look modelled by Simone Kerr: the military top, no matter how clever its play upon military outerwear and a trench coat, feels like a told story. And yet styled with a high-waisted, tartan patterned mini skirt there’s a cohesive appeal.
