Chitra’s Closet: a taste of ‘Pink Martini’

Chitra Mangma of Chitra’s Closet is s woman who knows how to put on s show. Last Friday her SS10 collection showing and AW11 ‘Pink Martini’ collection preview were accompanied by a three course meal of French cuisine at Brunswick’s Metropolis Eating House – as well as laughter, music, drama and fashion. Fall’s ladies were all wrapped up in headscarves and mystery. Carrying some of the quirkiest handbags the mind could dream up (among them were bags shaped as cars and hot air balloons) and shrouded by glamourpuss sunglasses, the models paraded garments of the kind of vintage shapes and careful construction that we’ve come to expect from Chitra.

Chitra’s clothing has an everyday appeal, a fact her shows reflect. She tells us about some of her models being beloved customers, girls who have shopped at Chitra’s stores and who, she feels, represent her clientele; girls her customers can relate to.

After a taste of what’s to come for Autumn, Chitra’s Spring 2010 wares were presented, this time paired with Kim Fletcher‘s impressive Spring Racing hats.
