The wider men’s military trend may have had it’s time but it’s hard to overlook the appeal of the structured form and adventure spirit it offers up for men, thus it remains hard to overlook its influence upon men’s autumn / fall 2011 collections. What is clear, though, is that the army motifs have long passed, and instead the fixation moves on to all things aviator, the relaxed essence of look meaning the wearer looks less like they’re playing dress ups and more like they exude a certain attitude to life. And under such a romanticism of the aviation of yesterday Ermanno Scervino debuted his latest menswear collection.
Tailored to a point Scervino’s forthcoming men’s takes all the elements we want of modern tailoring, from statement collars to peaked lapels, and relaxes them. Whereas other designers often opt for a heavily tailored, heavily cinched silhouette, Scervino has opted instead for the relaxed fit look that, along with the likes of Burberry Prorsum, many are moving towards.
It’s the use of statement collars, however, that is well worth gazing over. Every gent needs a wardrobe that includes statement pieces, and Ermanno Scervino‘s autumn / fall 2011 collection offers up plenty.
